CJCC 2018 Fall Public Meeting

On Thursday, October 18, 2018, the CJCC’s annual Fall Public Meeting took place at Israel Baptist Church. Attendees included community activists, church members, system involved youth, CJCC Partner agencies, and returning citizens. The goal of the meeting was to explore the realities of violence in the District of Columbia, and to identify ways to establish a “New Normal” in how government entities, community members, and individuals respond to violence.

The District's Youth Rehabilitation Act - An Analysis

Washington, D.C. – Today, the District of Columbia’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) released a study on the Youth Rehabilitation Amendment Act (YRA), which provides sentencing alternatives for young adult offenders under 22 years of age who are sentenced for any crime other than murder, including murder associated with acts of terrorism. The YRA also provides an opportunity for youth to have the conviction “set aside” (sealed from public view) if the youth satisfies the conditions of the sentence.
