Prioritizing Public Safety Emergency Amendment Act of 2023 Reports

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is required to provide data on criminal justice programs and violent crime incidents and arrests, in keeping with the Prioritizing Public Safety Emergency Amendment Act of 2023 (D.C. Act 25-175) and the CJCC Data Collection Technical Correction Emergency Amendment Act of 2023 (D.C. Act 25-295). As required by the legislation, the CJCC submits reports to the Mayor and the Council and has made this information publicly available. 

The CJCC complies with the legislative requirements by providing the following: 

Quarterly Report 

  • Aggregate data on the following with respect to the criminal and juvenile justice systems: diversion, pretrial supervision, detention, prosecution, sentencing, commitment, incarceration, probation, parole, supervised release, deferred prosecution agreements, deferred sentencing/disposition agreements, and consent decrees. 

Monthly Report 

  • Reported violent crime and homicide incidents in the District, including the extent to which the incidents involved a gun. The data are broken down by Ward, neighborhood, and Police Service Area. 

  • Adults and juveniles arrested for violent crimes, by specific types of offenses, as well as arrests for illegal gun possession.
