In July 2013, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council’s Substance Abuse Treatment and Mental Health Services Integration Taskforce (SATMHSIT) presented a forum that brought criminal justice and healthcare stakeholders together to share general information about the Affordable Care Act (the “ACA”), highlight the changes that had taken and would take place in light of the ACA, and explore the implications of the ACA for those involved in the criminal justice system.

4th Annual Juvenile Justice Summit

The CJCC, along with juvenile justice stakeholders, staff working with system-involved youth, community-based organizations, parent and youth leaders, hosted the fourth annual Juvenile Justice Summit: Transforming Youth, Families, and the Juvenile Justice System to Build a Stronger and Healthier Community. This juvenile justice summit attracted over 200 participants and for the first time in its history included an all day Youth Leadership Track.

Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services 2013 Mid-Year Public Safety Update

The Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) is committed to promoting public safety through the effective rehabilitation of the youth in its care.  Through effective engagement, proper supervision and appropriate treatment, DYRS has a direct role in guiding court-involved youth toward better decision-making.  The data for the first six months of calendar year 2013 show continued public safety gains for DYRS youth.
