CJCC Annual Fall Public Meeting

On Thursday, November 14, 2013, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council hosted a Public Meeting at Dunbar High School. The public meeting engaged residents in a conversation about local and federal criminal justice agencies strategies to improve public safety and the administration of criminal justice in the District.

Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services 2012 Mid-Year Public Safety Update

The Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) is committed to promoting public safety through the effective rehabilitation of the youth in its care. There are many factors that influence the public safety outcomes for youth in the District of Columbia, including several that are beyond DYRS’s control. Nevertheless, through effective engagement, proper supervision and appropriate treatment, DYRS has a direct role in guiding court-involved youth toward better decision-making.

One City Summer Closeout Event – Save the Date!

We will be closing out the this year’s One City Summer Initiative with an evening event on Friday, August 10th similar to our Gallery Place event at the end of the 2011 initiative. We are finalizing event location, time and activities now and will update you as soon as all logistics are confirmed. As with last year’s event, we are requesting that agencies be on hand to provide outreach to the youth in attendance.

One City Summer Closeout Event – Save the Date!

MPD is coordinating DC’s National Night Out events. The kick-off event will be held on Tuesday, August 7th from 5-9:30 at the Anacostia Library located at 1800 Good Hope Road in Southeast DC. Again, agencies are being asked to do community outreach at the kick-off event.  Please contact Lendia Johnson ([email protected]) to coordinate your agency’s participation. There will be other NNO events throughout the city on the 7th.

Mayor Gray’s Youth Town Hall Meeting on Safety this Saturday

The town hall meeting will be held on Saturday, July 28th from 12-2 pm at the brand new Rosedale Library located at 1701 Gales St, NE.  Agency resource tables needed. Please contact Cedric Jennings ([email protected]) or Peter Blue ([email protected]) to coordinate your agency’s participation.

Research and Reports

The Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) for the District of Columbia was established on April 30, 2001, by Mayor’s Order 2001-58 to provide a division dedicated to the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information about the District’s criminal and juvenile justice systems.  The SAC, a unit of the CJCC, is responsible for independent research and analysis.
