Justice Grants Administration Issues Request for Comments on JAG Program

Tuesday, January 3, 2006
The DC Grants Administration is requesting written comments on the District's 2006 Application for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant

The DC Grants Administration is requesting written comments on the District's 2006 Application for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program (42 U.S.C. 3750). Proposed to streamline justice funding and grant administration, the JAG Program will allow the District government to support a range of activities to prevent and control crime based on local needs and conditions. JAG blends the previous Byrne Formula and Local Law Enforcement Block Grant programs to provide agencies with the flexibility to prioritize and place justice funds where they are needed most.

Copies of the FY 2006 JAG Application's projected use of funds are available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm at the Office of The Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice, Justice Grants Administration, located at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Suite 327, Washington, DC 20004.

Written comments must be submitted by January 25, 2006, by close of business, and should be addressed to John Hallums, Director, and Attention: Phyllis McKinney at JGA (address listed above).

For further information, please contact Phyllis McKinney at (202) 727-1700.
