Public Meeting "From Custody to Community: Exploring DC Reentry Resources"

Next Date:
Tuesday, July 14, 2026 -
6:00pm to 8:00pm

Location:
Virtual - Zoom
Details:

Reentry is a critical part of the justice system that ensures individuals returning from incarceration have the support, stability, and opportunities necessary to successfully reintegrate into their communities. Effective reentry reduces recidivism, strengthens families, and promotes safer neighborhoods . To do so, communities must have laws, policies, and programs that address barriers to housing, employment, education, mental health, and more for returning citizens. In Washington, DC, where returning citizens face unique challenges due to the District’s federal and local justice system structure, intentional efforts are essential to supporting community reintegration, including health and well-being, economic self-sufficiency, prosocial identity, and public safety. This public meeting will provide an opportunity for local agencies to highlight the laws, policies, and programs that support successful reentry in DC.
