NICJR Cost of Gun Violence Report

Peace for DC, a District of Columbia community impact fund, commissioned NICJR to conduct an analysis of the cost of homicides and shootings in the District. The report examined the cost of gun violence in the District of Columbia, including costs to taxpayers.

CJCC Releases "Gun Violence Reduction Strategic Plan"

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is pleased to release the “Gun Violence Reduction Strategic Plan,” compiled by the National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (NICJR). CJCC commissioned NICJR to develop a proposed strategic plan for reducing gun violence in the District as a follow up to the “Gun Violence Problem Analysis Summary Report,” released by CJCC in the Spring....

Spring 2024 Public Meeting - Adult Community Supervision Recording

On March 7, 2024, CJCC convened a public meeting "Understading Adult Community Supervision in the District of Columbia." The meeting took place at Eastern Market and a virtual live-stream was also available. The meeting featured a panel discussion on adult community supervision pre-and-post conviction in the District of Columbia. Kristy Love, CJCC's Executive Director was the moderator, and Victor Davis from Pretrial Services Agency, and Marcus Hodges from the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency were the speakers.

Innovative Housing Programs for Returning Citizens

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is hosting a live webinar on innovative housing programs for returning citizens. Research has shown that unstable housing increases the likelihood of recidivism for returning citizens, especially in jurisdictions with a limited supply of affordable housing. During this webinar, we will learn about successful reentry housing efforts for consideration in the District.
