This position is located in the District of Columbia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC).The CJCC is an independent agency within the District of Columbia Government. The mission of the CJCC is to foster change in the justice system, serving as a forum to identify issues and their solutions, proposing actions and facilitating cooperation that will improve public safety and related criminal and juvenile justice services for District of Columbia residents, victims and offenders.
This position functions as Information Technology Specialist (systems Administrator) for CJCC system support operational process, and is part of an enterprise team which administers, develops and maintains the agency's line of business application called JUSTIS. The work involves planning and coordinating the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems to ensure JUSTIS availability.
Provides infrastructure services in: storage networking, operation system, network security, directory services, server virtualization using system backup and restore, system and network monitoring, application installation and configuration.
Optimizes system availability, security and performance of production systems' identifies opportunities for more efficient and effective information technology (lT) operations through the implementation of automation, proactive monitoring, and preventative maintenance.
Executes regular malware, vulnerability and exploit assessment review.
Responds to and remediate monitoring alerts.
Plans, schedules and performs the installation of hardware, operating systems and applications software.
Manages accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment.
Manages system resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability and recoverability.
Ensures systems availability, functionality and efficiency; and resolves hardware/software issues.
Ensures the rigorous application of information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services.
Documents and applies systems administration standard operating procedures.
Documents and rigorously implements information security/privacy and information assurance policies, procedures and tools in the delivery of systems administration services.
Identifies any critical issues so that an appropriate solution may be developed either by in house staff or vendor, as appropriate.
Interacts with stakeholders as appropriate to address systems-related issues.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Factor 4: Please indicate your expertise with working with high level of proficiency on Active Directory, Microsoft-based software (Server, Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010) and network troubleshooting.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field plus five (5) years of specialized IT experience working with business users to plan, design and implement software solutions; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
There is a legal requirement that each new appointee to the Excepted Service either: (1) be domiciled in the District of Columbia at the time of appointment; or (2) establish District domicile within one hundred eighty (180) days of appointment. The law also requires that Excepted Service employees maintain District domicile during the period of the appointment. Failure to maintain District domicile during the period of the appointment will result in forfeiture of employment.
Salary Range for the Position: $78,786 - $118,178
