2010 Juvenile Justice Summit

On September 30, 2010, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) held its annual Juvenile Justice Summit.

On September 30, 2010, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) held its annual Juvenile Justice Summit. In attendance were representatives from each of the CJCC’s various stakeholders:

  • Metropolitan Police Department
  • Child And Family Services Agency
  • Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
  • Parent and Adolescent Support Services
  • Court Social Services
  • Public Defender Service of the District of Columbia
  • Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services
  • Office of the Attorney General

The Summit included panel discussions on Abscondance, Juvenile Substance Abuse and Mental Health, Information Sharing Legislation, Innovative Programs and Prevention Effort and Juvenile Confidentiality Laws. The conference concluded with a panel discussion led by youth who had been through the Districts juvenile justice system. They shared their experiences and provided invaluable feedback on which programs were most beneficial to them and which ones needed improvement.
