Saturday, December 11, 2010
The information shared and initiatives proposed during the forum will be used to inform and update the Comprehensive Reentry Strategy for the District of Columbia.

The 2010 Citywide Reentry Strategic Planning Forum for Public Safety was held on December 11, 2010 at One Judiciary Square, Washington, District of Columbia. The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), organizers of the forum, aimed to facilitate dialogue amongst persons involved in the District of Columbia criminal justice system, representatives from government agencies, nonprofit and private sector organizations, and community members to inform the 2011 Comprehensive Reentry Strategy for the District of Columbia.

The 2010 Reentry Citywide Strategic Planning Forum agenda was comprised of an opening panel and breakout sessions, which enabled forum participants to discuss and inform the Comprehensive Reentry Strategy for the District of Columbia. The Comprehensive Reentry Strategy is an action plan that provides a framework of reentry services and solutions provided by District and Federal agencies in the District of Columbia.  Topics of discussion during the breakout sessions included education and training opportunities, viable District employment options, innovative solutions to increase housing options, and access to healthcare providers.

The forum was a great opportunity for participants who have an interest in the successful reintegration of returning citizens to the District to share innovative ideas and propose solutions to the outstanding issues affecting the returning citizen population. The information shared and initiatives proposed during the forum will be used to inform and update the Comprehensive Reentry Strategy for the District of Columbia.
